Learning To Say No

reflections Sep 12, 2020

I am learning to say no to fear and I ask that you join me in this.

Saying No to fear is what God wants us to do. Fear is cunning, fear is tricky, fear is sneaky but when it comes in it takes a seat. If we are not vigilant it starts to take a whole room in our hearts and minds. I have come to learn that the devil doesn’t play fair, he never has and never will. He always attacks with all he has.

Once fear comes in, it sometimes comes with anxiety, unbelief and it steals our joy. It steals our peace; it starts to create in us a false sense of reality and an unhealthy balance in our lives. Plain and Simple, FEAR IS A LIAR. The bible tells us the weapons of our fight is not physical but spiritual so fighting fear will require us to use the word of God. Here are some passages I use to remind myself of the truth of the word of God and speak over myself when fear tries to whisper lies.

Isaiah 43:1-2- This is what the Lord says—he who created you, Jacob, he who formed you, Israel: “Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze.

2 Timothy 1:7- For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.

Joshua 1:9- Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous! Do not tremble or be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”

Isaiah 41:10- ‘Do not fear, for I am with you; Do not anxiously look about you, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, surely I will help you, Surely I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.’

Isaiah 41:13- “For I am the Lord your God, who upholds your right hand, Who says to you, ‘Do not fear, I will help you.’

Psalm 23:4- Even though I walk through the [a]valley of the shadow of death, I fear no [b]evil, for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.

Psalm 46:1-“I sought the Lord, and he answered me and delivered me from all my fears. God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.

I also use these words as prayers when I realize fear has taken root and I turn these into prayers till my reality lines up with the word of God. Join me to actively say no to fear, be mindful of this tool of the enemy that is built to stop us from fully becoming everything God has called us to be. Always remember “FEAR IS A LIAR”

When he told you you're not good enough
When he told you you're not right
When he told you you're not strong enough
To put up a good fight
When he told you you're not worthy
When he told you you're not loved
When he told you you're not beautiful
That you'll never be enough

Fear, he is a liar
He will take your breath
Stop you in your steps
Fear he is a liar
He will rob your rest
Steal your happiness
Cast your fear in the fire
'Cause fear he is a liar

When he told you were troubled
You'll forever be alone
When he told you you should run away
You'll never find a home
When he told you you were dirty
And you should be ashamed
When he told you you could be the one
That grace could never change

Fear he is a liar
He will take your breath
Stop you in your steps
Fear he is a liar
He will rob your rest
Steal your happiness
Cast your fear in the fire
'Cause fear he is a liar

Let Your fire fall and cast out all my fears
Let Your fire fall Your love is all I feel

Fear he is a liar
He will take your breath
Stop you in your steps
Fear he is a liar
He will rob your rest
Steal your happiness
Cast your fear in the fire
'Cause fear he is a liar
