Start From Where You Are
Aug 25, 2020Start from where you are. This is a saying I have said to myself at different times of my life. Mainly because a lot of times, I find myself asking the question “what should I do next?”
The more I ask that the more I sense God say, “Start from where you are.” I get in my own way; I get stuck trying to map out the perfect plan. I always have a plan. Even before I start out to write I have a structure, I must have a title, I must have it centered, bolded, underlined, I must have a font I want to use for the rest of the text….If I plan to have a sub-heading, I must have all of them outlined first before filling in the words that make the crux of the story. That’s me.
So, this crazy notion that I am to live without knowing a full plan……a glimpse feels like it is not enough. God no, I need you to please tell me more. Give me more to understand where all of this is leading. You have told me to leave what I know, you can’t. Hahahaha it sounds weird writing that but stupidly this was the conversation I had with God…..you can’t do this to me. You can’t tell me to leave what I know without giving me a full picture. He said “I can.”
Sitting listening to the song Here Now by Hillsong United, I am reminded of my journey with God in this season is to trust him and know him more. So, although it seems like “but God you have told other people the full picture so why not me, you know it will help me.” I know that a major part of this part of the journey He is teaching me is to learn to lean on Him more, walk with him daily and not run off on my tangents.
Is it scary? Absolutely, yes, it is mighty scary. In fact, I think of Abraham and Moses and even at times Jacob and people in the word God lead down the unknown paths, they didn’t have it all figured out, but they trusted God. So, the question for me, and for you is do we trust God enough to walk with him daily even when we don’t know where the road is leading?
